Recliner Dimensions – Based on Style and Sizes

The first thing to keep in mind is that there is no standard size for a good recliner chair. Based on size and styles, they are divided into three types small, medium and large.

  • A Small Recliner

A small recliner is one whose width ranges from 29 to 30 inches; its height can be up to 39 to 42 inches while its depth is around 33.5 to 37.5 inches.If you have to get a smaller recliner, the room where you plan to place it should be approximately 35 inches wider. Note that, the footrest and headrest should be approximately 5-inches closer to the surrounding furniture or wall when the reclined chair is fully titled back.

  • A medium-sized Recliner

On the other hand, a medium-sized recliner chair is approximately 32-inches wider and can be extended up to 38-inches. The depth of this recliner can go from 33.5 inches up to 42 inches while the height can range from 37.5 inches up to a high of 43 inches. If you are to get a mid-sized recliner, the space in which you’re going to place it is at least 40 inches wider. When a medium-sized is fully reclined, its footrest and headrest should be no closer than 5 inches from the surrounding furniture and wall.

  • A large-sized Recliner

Last but not least a larger-sized recliner chair is at least 39 inches taller and can range up to 41 inches in height. Its depth is around 39 to 42 inches while the width is around 40.5 to 44 inches. If you’re interested in getting a larger-sized recliner, make sure the space where you install it is at least 50 inches in width. When it is fully reclined, the recliner’s footrest and headrest should be no closer than 5 inches from the surrounding furniture or wall.

As we have already mentioned, recliner chairs have no standard size, but this size will be customized by some companies as per customer demand & space needs.To get a perfect sized recliner, you have to measure your space. Whenever measuring the space, not the dimension of the perimeter where you’re planning to place it.
